Leadership in Sustainability
24 Feb 2016
As part of our commitment to upskill and inspire our people in sustainability, our senior management team are heading to University. Six of our senior leaders have already completed training at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability.
This programme gives senior executives the knowledge, confidence and commitment to reconcile profitability and sustainability, and to lead the change needed to create truly positive places.
Inspiring the senior team
Six of our executive team have already completed the Cambridge Institute’s Sustainability Leadership Course including Simon Betty, who heads up the newly acquired portfolio in Ireland and Jean-Phillippe, CEO of Hammerson in France.
"I attended the Cambridge Sustainability Leadership Course in October 2015. The course was an intense and inspirational experience that touched all aspects of the Sustainability debate including - climate change, ethics, organisational design, renewable energy and change management. The high quality teaching and calibre of my fellow students challenged my previously held views and encouraged me to bring sustainability to the forefront of my decision making."
Simon Betty, Managing Director, Ireland
Others who have completed the course include: Head of Sustainability, and leader of Positive Places, Louise Ellison; Andy Burger-North who heads up our Retail Parks Division, and Timon Drakesmith, Hammerson’s CFO.
More on the course
Lectures, case study presentations, group discussions and individual reflections support dialogue, debate and analysis amongst the group, helping them to bring learning back into the workplace. Importantly, the course helps leaders to translate important social, economic and environmental trends into business implications and decisions and to identify new areas for investment, innovation and collaboration.
