Launch of First Steps Croydon
14 Oct 2016
A Croydon Partnership funded programme to support young people in Croydon with quality work experience placements was launched this week to coincide with national work experience week.
Croydon is booming and is home to some of the UK’s most exciting businesses. It also has the highest population of young people of all the London boroughs. However, bright young people in Croydon struggle to get access to work experience relevant to them and their future careers because they lack the professional networks to do so. First Step Croydon started because the businesses, education institutions, young people and Croydon Citizens decided to do something to bridge this gap between industries looking for diverse talent and talented young people struggling to get a foot in the door.
Centrale has already hosted a paid placement, both myself and Ismael attended the launch event as speakers together with the leader of the council and other local business.
