Croydon’s First Teenage Market and a return to Victoria Leeds

14 Dec 2016

After the success of the first Teenage Market in Leeds Kirkgate Market in July, Hammerson partnered with the successful brothers again to bring a second Christmas themed event to the city followed by Croydon's first ever Teenage Market event held in Whitgift.

Both day's saw 35 enthusiastic young businesses and start-ups run their own stalls and participate in the thriving trade of Kirkgate and Whitgift Markets. Held over two consecutive weekends, the young traders were able to fully take advantage of customers out searching for Christmas presents, tree decorations and also raise money for their own selected charities.

Our Community Plan’s across our assets focuses greatly on Arts & Culture and Employment, Skills & Enterprise which underpins Hammerson’s community investment activity. We plan to deliver more Teenage Markets in 2017 across our centres including a return to Leeds and Croydon. This is a great example of Hammerson’s commitment to working in collaboration with local partners and stakeholders to deliver projects and initiatives that directly support the interests, talents and skills within the local community. It is also an excellent example of why this approach is so important – tapping into and supporting local talent is good news for everyone.
